Kotayk region is located in the central part of the Republic of Armenia, at an altitude of about 900-2500 m above sea level. The area includes the upper-middle basin of the Hrazdan River and the entire Marmarik River basin. The Yerjan-Shorzha-Hrazdan-Ijan railway runs through the region, and it is only 45 km from the regional center to the capital. The territory of the RA Kotayk region is 2076 sq.m. km & has a population of about 320,000. A section of the Tbilisi-Yerevan railway passes through the region. More than 2024 historical and cultural values and monuments are registered in the region.
