Armenia is of the ancient countries in the world together with China, Iran, Japan, Greece and Egypt having rich history of millennia and culture. Located at the crossroad of Asia and Europe, Republic of Armenia with the territory of 29800km2 was the first country to have adopted Christianity as a state religion; it has an almost homogeneous population (98.6% are Armenians). The official language is Armenian, and the capital city of Yerevan is 28 years older than Rome. The highest peak is the Mount Aragats, 4090 m high, and the lowest is the Debed River gorge (400 m). The international telephone code is + 374, the national currency is the Armenian dram.

The capital city
The capital of the Republic of Armenia is Yerevan, located on both banks of the Hrazdan River. Yerevan was founded by King Argishti I of the Kingdom of Van in the 8th century BC under the name of Erebuni. In addition to being the political and administrative center of Armenia, Yerevan is also its main economic and cultural center.

The flag
The flag of Armenia consists of red, blue and orange colors with equal horizontal stripes. The red color symbolizes the struggle of the Armenian people for the independence, the blue symbolizes the will of the Armenian people to live under a peaceful sky, the orange symbolizes diligence.

Public transport
Transportation in Yerevan is carried out by buses, trolleybuses, minibuses and metro. And inter-regional transport services are provided by minibuses and buses. There are no transport cards in Armenia yet. The price of public transport is 100 drams.

There are two airports in the Republic of Armenia: "Zvartnots" and "Shirak". Zvartnots Airport is located 13 km from the center of Yerevan. "Shirak" airport is in Shirak region, in the city of Gyumri, 120 km away from the city of Yerevan.
