Overview

Discover cultural highlights of Armenia during a one-day trip from Yerevan. This 9-hours tour in Armenia includes –  Khor Virap monastery, Charents Arch, Garni – Greco-Roman pagan temple, UNESCO-listed medieval monastery of Geghard and Azat reservoir. Choose this individual tour, book it with us and let us show you the Land of old Legends, Biblical Stories and Ancient History!

  • Khor Virap monastery The cloister of Khor – Virap is located in the territory of the Artashat historical city, between the Lusarat and Poqr Vedi villages. On the hills of Khor – Virap the citadel of the capital has been located. Khor – Virap is one of the armenian famous sanctuaries connected with the name of Gregory the Illuminator. The fortress-monastery of Khor – Virap was built in the 17 century in the place of the royal prison. The latter was a pit full of snakes and venomous insects where the prisoners were kept. According to the ”History” of historic Agatangeghos, Gregory the Illuminator has also been imprisoned there.
  • Azat Reservoir - You will have a photo-stop near Azat Reservoir. It is one of the most beautiful reservoirs in the Republic of Armenia. The Azat reservoir has been put into operation since 1976. Its volume is 70 million cubic meters. The sky and clouds are reflected in the water and, depending on the time of day, they give the reservoir a unique look. You have a great opportunity to visit this amazing place and see that gorgeous view.
  • “Symphony of Stones” - is a natural monument and protected by law. This is one of the must-see places of Armenia.
  • Geghard Monastery is one of the greatest medieval architectural structures in Armenia. Geghard is completely hollowed out in a cave, it is also called a “cave monastery”. This monastery was founded in the 4th century AD. in place of the sacred spring, originating in the cave. The name of the monastery complex Geghard (spear) comes from the Langin’n spear, which pierced the body of Jesus Christ on the cross. At the moment this spear is kept in the museum of Etchmiadzin. The monastery complex Geghard is included in UNESCO World Heritage List.
  • The pagan temple of Garni was built in the second half of the 1st century by King Trdat III. This is the only pagan temple, which has been preserved on the territory of Armenia. After the adoption of Christianity it became the summer residence of Khosrovadukht, sister of King Trdat III. It was destroyed in 1679 by an earthquake. Parts, fragments of graceful columns and wall stones were spread around the temple. It is supposed that the temple was dedicated to Mithra, the God of the Sun.
  • Charents Arch - is located near Yerevan, between the pagan temple of Garni and Geghard Christian monastery complex in the village of Vokhchaberd. At first glance, the Arch seems to be the most ordinary and unremarkable, but coming closer, passing to the platform inside the arch and looking at the panorama, everything becomes clear – this is the best place to admire the great and sacred mountain of Ararat, to be in unity with it and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Clean and comfortable vehicle, professional guide

I was looking for a travel agency with good English speaking guide, because earlier I had an issue with finding a good English speaking guide in the neighbour country Georgia. JAN travel agency organized a tour for my family in English with a very good guide Marianna. Frankly speaking, I was quite surprised when I found out that our drive Ara also spoke fluent English. We visited such places s Garni pagan temple and the monastery located not far from the temple. We had to stops to see and take photos of gorgeous Ararat mountain. The weather was very fine so we could see Ararat both from Khor Virap and from the Arch. Saying that I am pleased, is so little. I adore this company, honestly. Our supporting manager Lilith was also very kind and helped me during all of my stay in Yerevan even with questions that were out of my trip information. I would like to say a huge thanks to everyone who organized my tour.

Nice guide and caring staff!

Took 2 trips with JAN. The tour to Garni and Geghard was so nice and was not exhausting. We were very happy that the tour was not that long and in addition we also visited Khor Virap in order to see mount Ararat. The places that we have visited, the activities that we have taken were so fun, that I am sure that we will still be back to amazing Armenia. Now about the service, our guide was Marianna, a very nice girl with so much knowledge, she impressed our little group so much that surely we would love to travel with her again. Our driver for this tour was Ara . A very good driver with clean car and in addition he spoke fluent English!! Thanks also to the people who organized our trip and assisted us.
