    Stop 1: 12:00
    Sanahin Old Bridge

    Sanahin Bridge is one of the most significant architectural constructions of medieval Armenia. It is located in Alaverdi city of Lori region, above the Debed River. In 12th century it was built under the auspices of Vaneni, sister of Zakare and Ivane Zakaryan, in honor of her husband king Abas Kyurikyan, who passed early. The bridge is located above narrow and fertile banks of the River Debed flow. The basalt bridge with its bewitching outlines, type of stone and color combines with the picturesque surrounding becoming its inseparable treasure. Not far from the bridge Sanahin and Haghpat monasteries as well as Kobayr are located.

    Sanahin Monastery

    Sanahin Monastery complex is located on the right bank of the Debed river, in the village of Sanahin. The complex was founded by Ashot III Bagratuni in 966. Since the end of the 10th century it became an administrative center and a burial vault of the Kurikyan dynasty. In X-XI centuries, the monastery was a major cultural center: a university and a rich library were founded. At the end of the 12th century the complex was subordinated to the ruling of the Zakaryan dynasty.

    Haghpat Monastery

    Haghpat Monastery is one of the largest and most important monasteries in Armenia. The monastery on the high plateau is bordered by the peaks of the hills Surb Luys and Terunakan on one side, on the other side by the Lori fortress and in the Sagidzor canyon where flowing streams of the rivers Saghik and Kayan. Founded in 976, the complex of architectural structures consists of religious and secular buildings surrounded by towers and fences.
